Our math program is based on National Council of Teachers of Mathematics benchmarks and Idaho state standards. We challenge our students to develop number sense, critical thinking skills and problem solving skills by first building conceptual understanding at the concrete level using mathematical manipulatives and models before moving into abstract concepts.
We integrate the Accelerated Math program into our curriculum to provide enrichment and remediation for students in grades 3 through 8. We also offer our 7th and 8th grade students Pre-Algebra and Algebra coursework.
Holy Family’s math program encourages students to work together in cooperative-learning situations where they can exchange ideas and share learning.
Holy Family’s spring 2012 MAP* assessment scores confirm that our math program is effective. Students tested in grades 3 through 8 scored 95% advanced or proficient in Math. Our scores far exceed national scores and those of other Catholic schools in the state of Idaho.
*MAP (Measures of Academic Performance) is a national test through the Northwest Evaluation Association.
